STEM NOLA is building an Innovation Hub that will house laboratory space, classrooms, meeting spaces and 21st century technology to expose, educate, train, and connect students to STEM skills and careers.
From the start of the project, Ochsner Health has been a key partner by donating a building and the land, where it will be located, as well as providing critical financial support. In addition, the W. K. Kellogg Foundation has also contributed to the 40,000-square-foot space that will also be the new headquarters for STEM Global Action and STEM NOLA. Dr. Calvin Mackie, the founder of SGA and STEM NOLA, envisions the new building providing tremendous opportunities for students to learn more about the practical applications of STEM.
“We appreciate the support from Boeing and others that are helping to make this part of an exciting STEM laboratory,” Dr. Mackie said. “We will be teaching K-12 students how science technology, engineering and math play major roles in our everyday life. Our goal is to create a destination for STEM innovation, entrepreneurship, and workforce development.”
